Mediation Services

Whether virtual or in-person, mediation provides an opportunity for parties to come together to work towards resolving their disputes and ideally avoiding a lengthy and costly trial. Every case is unique. Some matters require in-person communication, deep empathy, and significant opportunity to unpack conflicting perspectives. Other matters are data-driven, requiring in-depth analysis, evaluation of complex or nuanced legal theories, and a deep-dive into analytical models. Whatever your case entails, Shireen Wetmore Mediation is here to work with you to facilitate a path towards resolution.

Making Mediation Magic

When you’re ready for mediation, you’re ready to get your case resolved—to come to the table in an effort to help move your case forward or, ideally, to put your case behind you. Sometimes you come to mediation because you reached a stalemate with the other side, and you need a breakthrough to move forward on a discovery issue or some other purpose. There are many reasons that parties need a little mediation magic.

Mediation magic can take many forms. At Shireen Wetmore mediation we are focused on empowering the parties to come together and use mediation to help resolve their stickiest issues. Mediation provides a confidential space for parties to share information and gain valuable insight about their case, setting themselves on a path to resolution.

Empowering Key Stakeholders

In any mediation, there are multiple stakeholders with multiple motivations, impacting the parties’ ability to come to the table and resolve their employment matters. Typically, mediation involves the mediator, plaintiff(s), defendant(s) and counsel for each party. Each comes to mediation with a unique perspective and with their own goals and objectives in mind. Mediation magic is finding the point at which all parties can agree. Empowerment means the ability to resolve the conflict is in the parties’ hands.

Attorneys: We See You

Attorneys for the parties are essential to effective mediation.   Counsel bring to the table not only experience and professional training, but deep knowledge of the client’s goals, objectives, and pain points.  Counsel help the parties understand why they are at the table and the benefits that can come from mediation.  This is why all mediations include not only pre-mediation review of briefs and key documents provided by the parties, but also a pre-mediation call with counsel for each party, so that Shireen can get to know counsel for each party and give each member of the legal team the opportunity to shine at mediation.

The Parties: You Are The Reason We're Here

Shireen’s passion for mediation stems from her great love of negotiation. From her early years learning to bargain at markets with her father to her long and successful career as a litigator, she has always loved the beauty and strategy behind a good negotiation. Quality negotiation is the foundation of a meaningful mediation. Shireen has studied negotiation and its various forms throughout her education, from graduate level coursework in anthropology examining cultural influences on bargaining, to the Harvard Mediation Intensive, which focused specifically on negotiation in the mediation setting.  Throughout the mediation, she will leverage her experience and training to help you work with the other parties to evaluate your position and negotiate to achieve your goals.

As parties to mediation, you are the most important factor in the success of your mediation, and importantly, mediation concludes when you decide. At Shireen Wetmore Mediation, we focus on giving the parties the tools and information they need to make decisions about their case that are right for them.

Confidentiality Always

A critical benefit of mediation is the ability to confidentially exchange information with other parties. In many cases this allows for a streamlined exchange of informal discovery, allowing parties to get to the heart of the dispute. If needed, Shireen will work with the parties to help define the scope of this informal exchange to best position the parties for a successful resolution of the case at mediation.  If you are ready to mediate with us, please click the button below.
